Recycling Bill Advances in the House


The Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act, a key piece of legislation aimed at improving recycling on the local, state and national level, is on its way to a House floor vote ().

The background: Championed by Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), the bill would create a pilot grant program to improve recycling accessibility and for the Environmental Protection Agency to coordinate with state, local and tribal governments to collect data related to composting and recycling and compile a nationwide inventory of material recovery facilities every four years.

  • The bill has also been amended to include the Recycling and Composting Accountability Act, led by Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO).
